WEHPICHECK / BUY WITH A CLEARER PICTURE

Check vehicle details from the registration.

A registration check helps you establish whether the basic vehicle details agree with the advert. Use it as the start of an identity check, then compare the documents and physical vehicle. A matching description is useful context but does not, on its own, prove ownership or rule out a cloned identity.

Read the returned details together

Compare make, model, year, fuel and recorded colour rather than relying on one field. A commercial model description can be more specific than the family name in an MOT record. Treat any discrepancy as a question to resolve, not a reason to overwrite an inconvenient detail.

A variant description and a picture serve different roles

Where a registration-linked variant is available, WeHpiCheck can use it to choose a model illustration from the library. A generic family image or unavailable illustration does not alter the actual returned vehicle record. An illustration is not proof of body style, optional equipment or the current paint finish.

Registration is only part of the identity

At the viewing, compare the physical VIN and the paperwork with the details you have been given. Check the vehicle registration certificate and ask for an explanation of inconsistencies. A keeper entry is not the same as a conclusive ownership check.

When to add a history report

A basic identity lookup does not answer all the questions about finance, stolen records or insurance history. If those matter to the purchase, compare the wider searches in our paid packages. Keep the original report and any seller explanations together so unresolved questions remain visible.

Your questions, answered.

Can a number plate lookup identify the exact variant?

A registration-linked supplier description may identify a variant, but coverage varies and optional equipment or image accuracy is not established by that description alone.

Does the V5C or a keeper count prove ownership?

Do not use a keeper record as conclusive proof of ownership or the seller’s authority to sell.
