WEHPICHECK / BUY WITH A CLEARER PICTURE
Look for recorded salvage auction history.
A salvage history check searches supported archive records associated with the vehicle. Where a matching event is returned, it can add context to the questions you ask about its past. Historical auction material is not a live view of the car and does not prove the quality of any repairs carried out afterwards.
Explore vehicle checks →Salvage records and write-off categories differ
An insurance-history finding and a salvage auction event are different records. Read each on its own terms instead of assuming one proves the other. A vehicle may have recorded auction evidence even when another section does not return a corresponding insurance finding.
Use photographs as dated evidence
Where available and licensed, historical images can show how a vehicle appeared at a recorded event. They may be incomplete, low detail or taken from limited angles. They cannot establish hidden damage, current condition or that everything visible was subsequently repaired.
Availability is part of the result
Complete includes a salvage-record search. It does not guarantee that an auction record or photograph exists for every registration. Our generic model illustration is separate from any historical photograph returned in a paid report; do not use the illustration as evidence of this vehicle’s past.
Turn archive evidence into practical questions
Ask for the repair history, invoices and an explanation of any auction event. Compare the documented identity with the vehicle at the viewing and arrange a suitable inspection. If the archive and the seller’s account conflict, investigate the discrepancy before deciding.
Your questions, answered.
Will every salvage search include photographs?
No. Photographs depend on a matching returned record and licensed availability.
Can historical pictures prove the car is safe now?
No. They document an earlier appearance and do not assess current repairs or condition.
