A practical car-theory study routine
Use explanations, topic practice and timed review to find what you have not understood yet.
Start with the source
Read the relevant Highway Code section, then attempt a short topic set without looking at the answer. When an answer is wrong, explain to yourself why the safer option applies. Memorising one phrase is less useful than understanding the decision in a different situation.
Mix topics deliberately
Use a short mixed set after focused revision. Review incorrect answers and revisit their source links. Our mocks choose no more than one wording variant of a core question in the same attempt. The displayed variation count is not a count of different driving rules.
Know the limits of this practice
The current GB car multiple-choice section uses 50 questions in 57 minutes, with a 43/50 pass mark. The real test also includes video-based questions and a separate hazard-perception part. Our text-only mocks do not recreate those videos and cannot predict an official result.
Your checklist
- Read the source before a topic
- Explain mistakes in your own words
- Use short mixed practice sets
- Try timed practice after revision
- Prepare for official video and hazard elements separately
