Compare bodywork and repair quotes fairly
Make the scope comparable before choosing a workshop on price.
Describe the same job
Send each workshop the same concise description and, if useful, clear photographs of the affected area. State the vehicle, the issue you noticed and whether there are warning lights or driving concerns. Photographs help explain a request but may not reveal hidden damage.
Ask what is included
Ask whether the price includes parts, labour, paint, materials and tax, and whether it is a firm quote or an estimate pending inspection. Clarify replacement versus repair and any calibration or further checks the workshop says are needed. Keep the proposed scope in writing.
Check the workshop’s claims
If a business claims manufacturer authorisation or a named certification, check the issuer and what the credential covers. An MOT authorisation or a company registration is not the same as approval for every kind of repair. Ask about completion timing, warranty terms and how additional work will be agreed.
Your checklist
- Give every business the same information
- Confirm estimate versus firm quote
- Check parts, labour, materials and tax
- Verify any stated accreditation
- Agree how extra work will be authorised
