Find your car’s paint code safely

General colour and factory paint code are different. Start with the vehicle label or manufacturer.

Know what you are looking for

A registration record may describe a car as blue, white or grey. That colour family is not enough to select a matching repair paint. A factory paint code is more specific, and a car may also have different trim, roof or wheel finishes.

Find reliable evidence

Use the vehicle handbook or the manufacturer’s help channel to identify where the paint label sits on your particular model. Depending on the vehicle, labels may be in a door area, the engine compartment or another location. Do not remove safety labels or dismantle trim just to search.

Confirm before ordering

Photograph the full label privately and ask a competent paint supplier or body shop to confirm the relevant code. Ageing, previous repairs and finish variants can affect a match even when the code is correct. A screen swatch or a general colour description is not a guaranteed paint match.

Your checklist

  • Use model-specific manufacturer guidance
  • Record the complete code exactly
  • Check whether roof or trim is different
  • Ask about finish variants and previous repairs
  • Do not order solely from a screen colour
